03/07/10: I have always wanted ferrets, and I finally got two girls about a month ago, and I absolutely adore them! The sable, Michelle is my cat Kevin's best friend, and my DEW is my little cuddle bug! I really hope they become legalized soon, its hard not being able to take them with me to pet stores, or talk about them at work just in case someone finds out.
02/06/2010: Hi. I went to Las Vegas on the 9th of January and came back on the 10th with our new baby ferret . I took the 15th and came on it . The station was open but was pulling over big trucks . We were in a car and asked if we had any fruit with us, we said no and drove right through.
01/07/2010: I was just introduced to your site since getting my first ferret 'Loki' about three months ago. My husband and i may be moving to CA soon.. and we truly appreciate all the work you do to help legalize ferrets in that state. Thanks for everything. Keep it up!

12/13/09: I was born & raised in Southern California. When I was little I had gone to other states & fell in love with with ferrets friends had, being told couldn't have one because they were illegal. Out of 50 states, two state outlaw them and one being my home state, where I born, grew up, and where my whole family is. At 32 I finally got my first fuzzy this month & couple days later she has 2 new fuzzy brothers.(everythings ok all 3 fixed lol) As for Cali. I still hope laws change in my home state & guess will make it difficult to visit home with my family due to part of my family being outlawed. Cali girl gone Okie

12-01-2009: I am a new proud owner of a 6 month old ferret-Rikki Tikki Tavvi- We got him in New Mexico and snuck him into CA. The checkpoint on the 8 wasn't that strict. My spoiled cat is getting used to him quite nicely. I am still in shock that any state would ban someting as harmless as a ferret. -Jenn
11-19-2009 - Today we lost our Beloved White FuzzButt ~Whiskers~. Her Sister is Devastated, as we are. They have been together almost 8 years and never apart. Now her sister is alone. She is a very very gentle and sweet ferret, and lives with dogs and cats and gets along fine. We would like to help someone out if they need to adopt out their ferret. I think a kit would be too young for her so I would like to find one at least 2 years old. I am disabled and they get alot of run around time. They are very loved and spoiled with 2 teenagers to love them. If you or you know of someone who needs help finding a home for their FuzzButt, please contact me! at aneva9@yahoo.com. We have a very lonely female, alone in her 4 story cage who, we believe, would love someone to play with. Thank you... RIP Whiskers
11-10-2009: I am looking to adopt a ferret. I sadly lost Tiny 4 weeks ago and Chloe misses her playmate. I have had ferrets for 8 years now but always in two's. I think they like to have fury playmate's as well as human one's. They have an hour of playtime running around the house in the morning and in the evening. Cloe and I would love to welcome another into our family. daisymutter@yahoo.com
11-09-2009: Hello, I'm looking to adopt a ferret - preferably a baby - around Christmastime. I can adopt it between now and then, but I'd like to do this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. I'm in Northern California (95472) and they're so hard to find. My boyfriend is studying to be a zoologist and I promise this baby would be so well taken care of, cherished, and loved on every day. He takes excellent care of his pets and I wouldn't even look into this if I didn't know he'd adore it more than anything. If anyone knows of a breeder, shelter, or has a baby of their own that they have to let go of between now and Christmas, please let me know! ohliveeeuh@Hotma! il.com Thanks so much!!
10-31-2009: Hello All! My sisters and I live in Orange County and have been thinking about getting a ferret for some time now. It has been hard to find one of these little guys on craigslist and I just found this site and figured I would ask you all for some help. We had two ferrets years ago when we lived in NJ and think they are the greatest. Please email me if you think you can help. jvega1325@yahoo.com Thanks. Joe
10-19-2009: We just moved from NC to San Diego. We have our baby, Mowgli, with us. He is 8 months old. We were told at the vet that there are ferret socials...We would love to come out and meet some other people with our love of ferrets and show MoMo off. If anyone can pass along info, we'd be grateful! Melissa melissa_morris_1@yahoo.com Thanks a bunch!

09-21-2009: Let's hope 2010 California makes it legal to own ferrets it's about time. Remember the Ferrets USA annual comes out the end of this year.
09-14-2009: I have owned ferrets in the past, now I am too old to properly take care of one. Their personality has brought me through the death of my husband. I don't know what I would have done without them. My regret is that I couldn't show them off when walking in the park.
08-26-2009: I live in Yuma, AZ, and am looking for a 1 + year old ferret to adopt to be a companion to our 2 year old ferret, 'Wally the Weasel.' I have family in Northridge and Camarillo, and travel with my wife and kids several times a year to both areas during school holidays and several weeks in the summer, so could pick it up, but if someone was in a bind, and worried about your Kalivornia jack-booted thugs and having someone come to your home to adopt and preferred to drop it off in Yuma, I wouldn't argue that (I am pretty sure that once you cross state lines, you can breathe a sigh of relief as you are no longer "breaking the law"). Email me at culcune@hotmail.com or simonloynes@yahoo.com
08-25-2009: I don't care the Gov's reason for not legalizing our furry friend. What about all the other creatures destroying our land and worse damage? I just discovered that a Ferret can be a better pet than a dog or a cat. I was ferret sitting for almost a year and the relationship we built was priceless! I had major surgery in January 09 and if it were not for her lighting up my days, only God knows where I'd be without her daily games, hugs and kisses.
08-18-2009: i have a female ferret that is less then a year old that i can no longer care for due to money problems... can someone help me? bule3y3s69@aol.com
08-05-2009: Hello, new and proud owner of a cute lil 3 month old ferret. We love our little Boo very much, and support this site completely. I would appreciate any advice from experienced ferret owners! Also our little baby is VERY energetic and playful, but he doesn't like to be cuddled or touched very much, just wondering if ferrets are not the touchy feely type pet. Thanks!
08-03-2009: Searching the net for ferret informations I ve found this homepage. Cannot believe that such a ban exists. I am the owner of 2 little ferrets 10 and 12 years old. I am so in love with them :-) I wish you soon will have the possibility to live with your ferrets without having fear !!! Best wishes from Doris / Germany
07-26-2009: I need some advice only from ferret lovers which is why im so greatfull i discovered this website well i have had my ferret for almost 5 years and hes a big part of my life. Anyways we are getting stationed at Camp Pendleton in September, I cannot nor will I leave him in AZ I have to take him i just dont see why they are illegal. I need to know how hard it is to find a rental though and what are the changes of getting caught? I read that there are a list of vets so that makes me happy but I need to know all this i would be so heartbroken if anything happened to my baby please e-mail me with advice! 07-15-2009: This website brings me hope. I don't live under the ban-- I'm a few states away-- but the whole concept that my ferret is a dangerous baby-eating killer is ridiculous. In response to the owner of the ferret named Fizz: your poor little girl is depressed. She misses her playmate, and seeks comfort sleeping on you. Get another ferret, maybe? Not to replace the one you lost, just to get things going again.
06-17-2009: We are ferret lovers, however we have a two year old white female ferret (Snowball) that needs a loving home that is able to provide her more attention. Would prefer to have her go with a family that already has a ferret that needs a playmate. We live in the San Diego area, email us if interested teammartes@sbcglobal.net Thanks
05-12-2009: Hey all my name is Aria, native Californian now residing in Florida (for college) but soon to move back to California! I think it is an absolute travesty that ferrets are illegal in California. Not to mention incredibly moronic. I now have 4 ferrets that reside perfectly peacefully with 3 cats, 2 rabbits and 2 fish tanks. I know most people would think that combination could be deadly, but we have a completely peaceful home! Everyone gets along, the cats groom the ferrets and bunnys, the bunnys climb on the ferrets faces, the ferrets sniff the bunnys and roll over and go back to sleep! It is total bunk that they think these little guys are killers! T hank you so much for everything you are doing!
04-29-2009: hello my name is michelle i have a 4 yr old ferret i have been looking up and down trying to find one in cali. my little guy needs ONE friend soo if anyone in cali cant take care of there little guy or needs to give one a home i will so boy him for a small fee!!! please i dont want to go to oragen and risk him over the check points!! email me at mhayley123@yahoo.com i check it everyday thank u very much
04-17-2009: Yesterday my 1 yr old ferret charlie got bit by a poisonous spider and began seizing. i rushed her to the vet where they sedated her and began to run tests, before they could narrow down what exactly happened we lost her. My biggest concern now is my 14 month old ferret Fizz. She's not the same. She's been laying on my chest all day. Fizz was never the lover, charlie was. She'd never let you cuddle her for more then a few minutes. I'm worried she's depressed. she's not eating or drinking. I can't lose Fizz too. Their my babies and I'm all they know. Had them both since they were weeks old. what do I do? Please help me.
4-13-2009: I am considering going to Arizona to purchase a ferret, but im still a bit worried about how the ferret will react once i get it home. There is a Vet's office close to me which takes ferrets (i found it thanks to this site) but im curious if i must have a permit or something of that nature to even take the ferret into the vet if something was to occur. Any tips for a new ferret lover?

4-06-2009: I used to be owned by 2 wonderful Ferrets, Alice and Baxter, their passing was the worst moments of my life. I'd love to one day take another into my life, California needs to grow up and do away with that idiotic law.

3-25-2009: I'm a navy wife that is STUCK in the stupid state and had to give away Pippin ( my 3 year old Ferret) He was the 3rd i'd had (first 2 bought for me for my 1st birthday died when i was 20) They are SWEET INTELLIGENT CREATURES. Honestly i think that the state officials do not want to allow in an animal that is smarter than they are.

3-08-2009: Hey! My name is Karma, I'm a ferret fanatic. I currently own 4 wonderful female ferrets. All spayed and descented. If anyone is in the Central Valley or Sacramento area (even the Bay Area) or willing to travel, I have a spare bedroom for my ferrets and I am willing to foster or adopt ferrets in urgent need of a new home. E-mail me directly at love.hate.karma@hotmail.com for more information! I am also willing to pay a small fee (I spend $75 on my first ferret, $50 on my second and $40 for the last two together. 3-08-2009:I have been going through empty nest syndrome for about two years now. I always wanted a ferret but I could never find one in CA. Well as I was looking for a puppy I came across 2 ferrets for sale. Two guys that worked out of town could no longer take care of them. I have had them for about 3 weeks now and they make me smile and laugh constantly. I love my Skippy and Chewy! I am fearful that they are going to get taken from me since they are not legal. What would happen if someone did turn me in for having these adorable kids that have helped my depression? I can not lose them now but I am afraid that this may happen. I need these guys in my life. My babies..
3-5-2009: I have two awesome ferrets, one is deff I think he is a badger ferret and he gets into everything and he doesnt listen...I let him because I think he is deff. Are there any hand movements for training I should use? I dont want to scruff him all of the time!

2-16-2009: *******IMPORTANT********* I know this site is for legalization of ferrets in CA but i need to request your help. Can you please also make this a site to help ferrets in NY city to? My aunt had a ferret in NY city ,but he managed to get out of a window and was killed in the fall. Then a nieghboor found the body and looked around for the owner when she found out my aunt was the owner she called the cops. Now she has her apartment checked every sunday so she cant get another ferret. I bet there a many ferret owners in NY who are facing the same issues as the ones in CA. So please do this for the sake of ferrets. I live in NY but not in the city and im so scared what if they expand the illegal law to all of NY? What will happen to all of the ferrets ? That is why i need your help.
2-09-2009: FOOD....I was VERY shocked at the supposed diet that a ferret needs on the Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital site. I clicked the "ferret vet care" link to the left of this page and saw this site with terrible information. If you want cheap food then go for it. But if you actually care for your animals then there are only 3 foods you should consider.#1 Raw diet (expensive but worth it, natures variety, stella and chewy's, bravo are ready done for you) #2 freeze dried raw( archetypal 1, natures variety, stella and chewys) very expensive but less messy than raw and #3 the only kibble i would EVER consider giving my kids is "Wellness Core" only the "core" version it has 5 different protein sources, probiotics, EFA's and only one filler and its way down the ingredients list after all of the meats. All of these will cost more than the cheap kibble, but you will likely save in vet bills and have a much healthier ferret for a much longer span of time. I am sure most of you already know these things but i still like to point it out. I have 4 ferrets and all together it costs me around $75 to feed them every month. expensive, but they are worth every penny.
2-09-2009: Hi i support this site with a passion. I have never owned a ferret myself, but have seen how loving and caring they are. My neighbor let me borrow his for days at a time. If anyone cant care for theirs anymore or would sell me one for a small fee please please let me be a proud owner and show people around me why we have to legalize it. I will drive to you. i go to school in Turlock, CA but live in palm springs ,ca
2-09-2009: I've not written in before, but I need to talk to someone about my 8 year old sable "Skeezics" He has developed lymphoma, and while his vet says that he is a good candidate for treatment, I cannot afford his medical bills. I'm already about $1500 in, just to find out a four month regimine of treatment will cost another $4500. I can't make myself put him down, and I can't come up with the resources needed to buy him another year. (the vet says an aggressive treatment plan will probably keep him healthy for 8 to 15 months) Are there any organizations out there that help little fuzz butts in this type of situation?
2-04-2009: I have aquired mine from Cali as well,im a new owner and love the little guy very much, can you believe they say the same for Gerbils i have owned 6 of those little guys. California is Ridiculous with these foolish laws.If you need any extra signatures etc..let us know~
2-02-2009: I use to have a ferret a few years back and fell in love with them.A friend had given me her, but I had to give her up because of personal reasons and I was no longer able to care for her properly and decided it would be best for her to give her up. Now I have stability in my life and the means to take care of one properly and would like to get another one...Unfortunately they are still illegal in California and I don't know where or how to acquire one. If anyone knows where or how I can get another one I'd appreciate any help you might be able to supply. My e-mail address is kmooney61@yahoo.com Thank you--Kerry

12-29-2008: I just wanted to say that I think you are amazing for helping legalize ferrets. I live in Pa. I just don't understand what is the problem having them. I hope this new year it all changes and Ca. allows to have them. I really feel bad for those who live there and they all have to hide. Good luck with everything. I wish I could join up but right now it is tight. Though if I win the lottery (lol) I will surely join up with you all....take care. May I add, Pat, you are a nice looking man and I think you are wonderful for doing what you are doing. Have a wonderful New Year!!

12-01-2008: Greetings from San Francisco! I just signed up for CliffNotes and donated to the cause here. I am writing & wondering about the 2 ferrets in Mountain View that need a good home that I read about in the Nov 23 issue # 47 vol 3? I didn't know where to contact you so here I am. My husband and I live in a large house with 2 rug monkeys, 3 year old male, Noodle and a 1 year old female Luci(fur). They are free roam except at night and love the tubing I have installed down the stairs on 1 side. They eat a commercial raw diet supplemented with EVO ferret kibble, raw egg yolk, fish oil, peanut oil, ground flaxseed and I rotate things like this into their raw mix 2 times daily. They have toys glaore which I rotate and have lots of time to play with them and my husband workd from home as well. We'd love to adopt the little Sable but understand if they must be rehomed together. I would like the opportunity to meet these 2 that need a home if you could contact me. Thank you much and I look forward to your weekly news! Jillian Clark San Francisco, Ca

10-26-2008: I would like to address some comments on here regarding C & D Feeds and their ferrets. I have purchased all 3 of my beautiful ferrets from C & D Feeds. So to answer the question of the quality of ferrets sold there. They are wonderful. All 3 of mine are also healthy. My oldest will be four in November and youngest (male) is about 9 months. None have had any health problems thus far. They are all healthy, happy, loving ferrets. There have also been comments about how C & D treats there ferrets and the issue of them being mis-treated by them being nipped in the ear by the owner of C & D. Yes, she does do this, I have seen it myself but I don't think it is anyones place to say what she is doing is cruel. Yes, it seems harsh, but eveyone has there own method of discipline/teaching. Whether it is effective, I really think depends on the ferret. All ferret owners know that ferrets are hard to get through to (at least mine are). They are fun loving and just want to have fun. Mine just brush off discipline and go back to playing. If people are wondering if I have mean ferrets because C & D may have nipped them on the ear as babies, NO, they are not mean because of this. They have not been scarred in any way, and I highly doubt they even remember this because it is not something I did after taking them home. I only hope people will stop being so hard on C & D because they do have beautiful ferrets which they get from a breeder in Iowa and I will continue to go back there when I decide to get another. If anyone would like to see pictures of my babies for proof, or have any other questions, please feel free to email me ferrets727@yahoo.com
10-26-2008: Hi I have two male ferrets. They are brothers and are only about 1.5 years old. I am having trouble finding them a new home. I love them so much and have noticed that I am too busy to give them the attention they need. I want to give them to a family that will take good care of them. They need a home that will stay their home from now on. They have moved too much. I am trying to sell them for $400. Everything included, cage, meds, treats, toys, beds. Everything I have got for them will go with them. Please email me at Eclecticvv1@aol.com Thank you
10-14-2008: Hi there! just wanna say hello again! I really enjoy visiting this nice website each time! Please visit our new website, which is online since yesterday and leave your pawprint in the visitors' book! The new website includes already an translation-mode especially for international visitors!!! Greetings! Bye bye, Jessica www.fretties.de
10-05-08: I love Ferrets, They seem so play-full and full of energy~ I don't see why a fuzzy critter that seems to enjoy life so much would be illegal in California. I have always wanted one but oh well... I can only hope for them to be legal here someday soon, That or for one to show up at my door step!. :) Keep up the great work!.
10-04-08: To the person looking for a healthy ferret DO NOT go to C and D feeds, the ferrets are mistreated there.A girl I know went there and she saw one of the workers there biting the ferret until it screamed and said that was how you keep them from biting. You would be better off going to Pet Kingdom or something because at least they know how to handle the ferrets.good luck!!
10-04-08: Can anyone tell me how happy they were with the selection, health and adult ferret from C and D in Needles/Mohavey or Pet Kingdom. I have spent the WHOLE DAY researching this topic and keep seeing the same stuff. WOW!! In my experience of breeding animals and caring for them I have found that a diverse, yet still selective, breeding program can provide a beautiful and health animal with a relatively trouble free future. I also know that breeding too close can support a resesive gene that can really haunt you!!! C and D Feed is not willing to provide me pictures of the babs or their parents, nor or they willing to tell me more than they are from Idaho (or Ohio??) I have spoken with Pet Kindgom USA and they ge t theirs from Marshall Farms. Where is a good place to get a healthe ferret in NV or AZ??? The "fuzzies" listed on the header of this page look very nice, healthy and balanced, maybe someone can give me some direction??

10-01-08: I have been looking to get another ferret, I miss mine ever so much, she (Fruitloop) passed two years almost to the day. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about her and so dearly miss her, sniff sniff. Her best friend other than me (her mommy) was my chihuahua Tinkerbell, I could not keep them apart. I think even Tinkerbell shed a tear when we lost Fruitloop. Thank you for having a site for us critter lovers. Please keep up with the info on where to get another friend.

09-13-08: Hi everyone....I have a question that i am hopping someone can help me answer...I live in Baja California and today we had to put our little Google down...The veterinarian care here is very poor...Google had started to loose his fur around his neck...and at some times he would stop eating and i would have to force feed him "chicken broth" from a syringe...He would seem to come back after a few days, but never fully recover...He could no longer keep him self clean, and he always had a slight discharge from his pee pee area...We had taken him to the vet a couple of times but all they did was give him vitamin shots and antibiotic shots...and again he would seem to get better for a period of time...This tim e he could not recover...He had no strength to eat or drink and i couldnt see keeping him barely alive....His poop had been really black and sticky before he stopped eating all together...So today we took him back to the vet to have him put down...The vet said he had Hepatitis....Could this really be true? Has anyone every heard of that? Has anyone every had a sick ferret with these symptoms...?
09-10-08: This is posted in mempory of Olliver "Little Guy". Olliver had insulinoma and lost his battle with the disease this morning at 0945. 06/10/08: My kids kept on me to get them a ferrit. When I came home with Mr. Jiggy it was family love at first sight. The kids took very good care of Mr. Jiggy and the only argument he ever caused was who was going to take him in their back-pack for outings. Three years went by and my two kids have graduated from school and moved on in their lives. Mr. Jiggy seemed lonely even though the kids come and get him for outings some times. So I went to AZ and got Mrs. Jiggy or Lucy as Mr Jiggy would put it. Well it has been two years since the kids orginized Mr. and Mrs Jiggy's Wedding cermony and I am sad to announce Mr. Jiggy's dissapearance. We don't know how this happened, he was just gone one day. We keep them in the house except when I am cleaning because my friend's ferrit died because he drank some cleaner or radiator fluid. So I set up a cage in the back in the shade for them to be in while I am cleaning for their safety. When I went to get them Mr. Jiggy was gone???? He was very unique as is every ferrit so I just hope he is with someone loving. He was very old and not showing any signs of cancer at all. So if someone is loving to him and understands the special care of ferrits he will be ok eventhough we would like him back. My heart goes out to Mrs Jiggy who is the one suffering from this because she has become so lonely since she has never been without his companionship and I don't even have the kids to keep her company. She has stopped jumping around like she used to when she was playing with her solemate. And her appitite has dropped. My tears fall for her. I don't have the finances to aquire another ferrit from affar but I have the means to support one. And I can provide an address in Las Vegas with proof. So if anyone has any suggestions please let my heart know. tinacetrone@cox.net 619 287-6374

05/14/08: I don't know why/or who told you to do an EIR. EIRs are for projects, and legalization of ferrets is not classified as a project under CEQA. Anyway, if the CDFG says they will accept an EIR... there are more EIR sections you can write off. You will need to complete an NOP where all sections but biology and maybe hazards can be classified as "no impact" or "less than significant". Biology is going to be tough though. You will have to provide substantial data comparing all California's MSHCPs and local city/county general plans as well as all thresholds from different counties/cities. Again, this is a hard one as it is not necessarily a project - good luck.
05/17/08: I'm making a ferret run this summer. If you live in Northern CA or the Bay Area and want a baby ferret, I could pick one up for you. They're wonderful. v_cabbit@hotmail.com

We rescued both of them and they seemed to have matured while we had them. My boyfriend whines almost every day about wanting more ferrets, and I would also love to have more to take care of. We would prefer to rescue some CA ferrets instead of driving to Nevada. We live in the central valley. femzombie@gmail.com

I have a ferret and my name will be on the byline My phone number is 707-362-1169 Please call or e-mail me ASAP

01/13/08: I cannot believe that people would be so afraid of ferret's as to ban them from a state.....I live in Canada and own a ferret, she is 2 now (ginger) and my baby. She has not once bitten myself or my children (or anyone for that matter) but yet people are terrified of her???? If people would only take the time to do some research I am sure they would feel quite silly as Ferret's are very clever, friendly, intelligent animals. What it comes down to is how the owner treats it (as all animals) Ginger spends most of her time out of the cage (as they should) is litter box trained and loves harrasesing the dog...lol So to all of you good luck in your fight.

11-15-2007: Just got my fiancee a ferret for her birthday, she wanted one more
than anything in the world, I am an Orange County (Southern California) resident
and I got my ferret at Pet Kingdom in Las Vegas, it was worth the 9 hour drive
to get her. I got the kit that included Flora (The female ferret) a nice 3 level
cage, litter, a litter box, food, medicine/vitamins, snacks, a toy, a DVD all
out the door for under $350. They were super nice and told me everything I needed
to know to properly take care of her and explained that everything else was
detailed in the DVD. I drove past the checkpoint on I-15 with no problem, i
had the ferret in a box
on my back seat and drove up to the checkpoint, the lady asked me where i was
coming from, I told her Las Vegas and she said ok and i was on my way. My fiancee
has had her for 2 days now and she absolutly adores her.

10-24-07: damned if you do, damned if you don't
As a Veterinary Technician at a clinic that sees exotics, including ferrets,
as well as a ferret owner myself, I find that I truly have mixed emotions about
the legalization of ferrets in CA.
Let me start by saying that I love my little ones a lot and that is part of
the reason that I would be upset on one hand, if ferrets became legal in CA.
I have seen first hand the puppy mill pups and kittens that come into the clinic
with so many problems and I don't think I could bare to see the population of
ferret babies that would explode here, with similar problems (genetic and communicable)not
to mention the new market and added profit for the ferret farms. A lot of veterinarians
believe that the huge numbers of problems (adrenal disease, insulinomas etc)
that are seen in the domestic ferret can be directly attributable to the mill
type breedin that a large number of these animals come from (ie Marshall Farms).
I have read a lot about making the ferrets that are here "safer" due
to the fact that they wouldn't be able to confiscate them just for being here.
Has any one thought about the even larger numbers of new pets that would come
here. I for one like the fact that they are so difficult to come by. These pets
require a lot more specialized care than the average cat or dog.
All of the ferret owners that I have met here have gone to a lot of trouble
to obtain their pets, thereby doing a lot of homework on ferrets. The purchase/adoption
of a new pet is not a task to undertake lightly and I fear that the influx of
ferrets to pet stores would lead to a lot of impulse buying of these pets. They
could become the next new fad, like the chihuahua in the purse. While the rescues
that exist do great things, I have read how overworked they are and fear that
even more homeless animals would surge their way once new owners find out how
difficult these pets are to keep.
I know that some of you may not agree but I felt that I had to present some
of the other side that I feel is often overlooked. Thanks for reading!
10-09-07: It seems only obvious with such a high ferret population in Cal.that regulations on breeding and vaccinations is more appropriate than the politicans saying no to legalizing ferrets. They need to pull their heads out of their butts and see what is obvious to the rest of the country.Ferrets provide companionship, affection and don`t disturb neighbors with running loose unleashed pooping on their lawns, barking ,chasing cars.Even if a ferret gets loose the lifespan in the wild is so short it couldn`t cause the havok of wild cats or dogs.So come on politicians get away from your desks and hear the people speak!!
10-07-07: I am looking for a baby male ferret. I am living in so. ca but would be willing to drive to nearby states. I presently have a 3 year old ferret named Wiley who is looking for a playmate.rqsupreme@sbcglobal.net
10-07-07: im a former californian living in pennsylvania now. i really wish ferrets were legal in CA. im in the process now to adopt 2 of them. and i may return to CA so i would love to be able to have them. to the guy/gal below this post, i would take those ferrets for you if i still lived in CA. im from LA county not far from you.
10-06-07: I have two ferrets that I need to adopt out. My landlord will no longer let me keep them. One boy, and one girl. Thay are both descented and spayed/neutered, and up to date on all their shots. They would have to stay together because they are best friends and keep each other company. They would come with a huge three story cage, food, litter boxes, water bowls, toys.. ect. I am asking 150$ for the cage, accessories, and both ferrets. I am located in orange county, if you are interrested, please contact me. Thank you! thebozz56@hotmail.com
10-06-07: I have 2 ferrets and have owned them for a year and a 1/2. They have NEVER pooped or peed outside their litterbox. Just for the record, those who don't know how to train their ferrets to do this, always say they are not litterbox trainable. =)
10-06-07: To Texas Tina,I have had ferrets for the past 7 1/2 years. All 3 have been litterbox trained!Miss Nikki only goes outside her box if it needs servicing. She doesn`t like to step into a wet or soiled box.I think some owners become lax in cleaning the litterbox.I clean Miss Nikki`s box daily and she lets me know she wants it done now by stamping her foot.I never had trouble with her 2 cagemates ( deceased at 5 and 6 years).I may be just lucky ,but by the responses to Tina`s letter it seems it seems to be the norm.My ferrets have never pains-in -the a--,only loyal ,loving, and gentle.Good luck with legalization,I`m glad I live in S.d. where domestic ferrets rule.
09-16-07: Hey...ii am totally in love with ferrets ii want one for myself but can't seem to find one @ all!!! Ii have plenty of time to care for one just need a little help finding one..if anyone can help me email me at lyricalqu33n@tmail.com Thanks in advance
09-16-07: I was reading about someone who said ferrets could not be trained . Sorry to say but we own 4 ferrets and they are all litter trained. yu just need to put one in their cage and watch where they like to go when out of the cage and place a small pan there for when they are out and running. Our 4 ferrets have run of the house 7 hours a day and have a 3 tier house when we are not here to supervise them. Ferrets should never be allowed out on their own when yu are not home. They are too inquisitive.
09-07-07: Hello! I recently adopted a thrid ferret and it has sadly become clear that she needs to be an only ferret. Since I have already had two little guys, I need to find another home for her. Bernie is a two year old silver. She is very sweet with humans once she gets to know you and loves to cuddle and give kisses....she just was never socialized much and takes a little while to warm up to new people. She is used to having ALOT of time with her family playing outside of her cage, so please dont take her unless you can spend at least 4 hours a day with her, because she will get depressed. If you think you might be interested in adopting this sweet little girl please e-mail me at druidess80@aol.com
