In Conclusion
No ferret photos sent in? That means I'll have to wrap up here.
Not a lot happened this week. 150 ferrets were stolen in Mexico, like they don't have enough problems down there (read the article) Thanks Michael and Marshall for sending it in.
Wysong Pet Foods is sending us a $700 check for the affiliate program. This is from people ordering off the links like the one's at the bottom of this page. I think Bailey is responsible for half of this - she loves the Wysong Archtypal 1

Here she is getting some while I clean the cage.
We still don't have the invoice for Sacramento State University, but they have completed the 2nd quarter of the pre-EIR Study. We are making great progress on that front. This should be a great year - ferret wise.
Note - Haven't heard back from Lance so if there is anything that upsets anyone in this CLIFFNotes - blame Pat

Ferrets Are More Fun T-shirts Reprinted with Design in Front on Lady's T-shirts
Last year's survey of our readers showed that 75% of CLIFFNotes readers are female and they wanted more feminine products. I also learned people wanted this design on the front, not the back. So here it is, on a lady's Gildan Soft Style T-shirt. I have sizes from Small (and they look very small!) to ladie's 2xl.
Prices are $20 each. We will get the 3xl and 4xl later.
We will also have the regular t-shirt with this design and more "Ferret Legalization Isn't Rocket Science T-shirts" shortly.
Thank you!

Legalize Ferrets Revival or Ferretpalooza?
There does seem to be a lot of interest for a Northern California ferret. Previoulsy we've called them "Revivals" but I hope by the time September comes around we'll be more in the need for a celebration - thus "Ferretpalooza."
By September the pre-Environmental Impact Report (EIR) should be done and that should be just the time we file the official EIR Report with the state of California. I feel confident that those dangerous ferrets we've heard so often about - won't be found. Perhaps the next year we can have a real ferret show!
We have a volunteer scouting locations in Walnut Creek. If you have any suggestions please let me know. The preferred date is Saturday, September 25th.
Dr Rene Gandolfi has offered to speak and we're looking for more fun and interesting speakers. I also believe in ice-breakers and team work - so if you have any ideas, please share.
And election season will be fully underway. We will be sending an invitation to certain statewide candidates to make an appearance - Will Jerry Brown or Meg Whitman show up?
If you have any suggestions on how to make this a sucessful ferret event please pass them on to me!
Vet Review - Dr Cecil at the Pet Emergency Specialty Center in La Mesa
I thought I'd do a new feature for CLIFFNotes - a vet review. So when you take your ferret to the vet in California I'm encouraging you to write it up so others get an idea of how good a ferret vet is.
This Saturday morning was spent at the Pet Emergency Speciality Center. They have an exotics department which does not operate on an emergency basis. Dr Cecil is a well known ferret veterinarian. I usually go to the Avian and Exotic Animal Hospital - I'm a big fan of Dr Jenkins and his staff - but they were closed that Saturday. And someone left me a bloody poop sample so I wasn't wasting any time.
Making the appointment Friday morning was a positive experince, "Buzzy" did everything he could to get me in. I think I had to wait about 15 minutes in the lobby - not a problem because you meet the most interesting people and their pets at the vet's. We got to meet this labrador mix dog who needs a home. Tempting since we've lost our Golden Retriever this week from cardiomyapothy and I need a big dog! But I don't think I trust this dog with the ferrets - they must have looked like squeaky toys to him.
The vet technician didn't seem comfortable around ferrets - which is understandable if you're not around them a lot. She was polite and friendly but her uneasiness was apparent.
Then Dr Cecil came in

| Here we go - Fausto's heliobacter infections have meant many vet visits. |

Tiger getting her first check up |
He's one of the few vets in the San Diego area I'd trust with my ferrets. He's always been available to offer advice even if we're seeing another vet. The Pet Emergency & Specialty Center is a first class outfit - but they are expensive. You can't really negotiate a price as easily with them as you can at an independent hospital.
All in all it was a positive experience. A check up for four ferrets which included distemper shots for Tiger and Bailey and ear mite treatments for all four was $316. And we'll be back in 10 days for the second earmite treatment.
The Pet Emergency Specialty Center has two locations and Dr Cecil works in both:
La Mesa - 619-462-4800 and Chula Vista - 619-591-4802
Tell him you read it in CLIFFNotes!
