Photos From the First Annual Ferret Motor Cycle Ride

Lance & Dawn M., & OCFerrets would like to thank everyone who helped out and those who attended the First Annual Ferret Legalization Ride, and wants to invite everyone back for next year's ride. Thank you to Marylou Zarbock from Ferrets Magazine who also attended. Despite a late arrival to the park by the riders, everyone who started the ride finished safely and were greeted by enthusiastic ferret folk, food and fun! Thank you for attending! If you missed out, more information on the Second Annual Legalization Ride will be available on the OCFerrets website when plans are more solid. If you would like to purchase an Official Ride Patch from the event, please email FAPres@ferretsanonymous.org for more information!

Have you ever gone to a meeting and left unhappy because you never spoke to any other attendees? Did you just sit there and listen to speaker after speaker - passivley?

I don't want you to feel that way when you leave the ferret legalization meeting. I want you to feel that you are part of a much larger effort; you belong to a serious but fun-filled effort to legalize ferrets in California. This is an experience you will be proud of and remember for the rest of your life.

Milo Shapiro is an experienced corporate communicator. Lack of communication has been cited as one of the biggest problems in business. (at least where I've ever worked) We are in the business of legalizing ferrets.

You will take with you new knowledge and skill that you can use in your life outside ferret legalization

  • "Aha!"s when communication challenges relate to work issues

Regarding the Environmental Study

Months ago we formed a "working group" to do a preliminary study on an Environmental Impact Report. We haven't heard much of anything for a very long time and gave the group until October 11th to produce results. They did not respond to my deadline.

While they get an "F" for communication - I heard second hand they are "kicking ass" with their work. The reason they don't communicate with me is because they think I'll spill their results in CLIFFNotes (why don't people think I can keep my mouth shut?!)

I'd given up ever hearing from them, but now my hope is they will have some great data to give Geo on an official EIR, but I don't know the status of their efforts. Stay tuned...

Election Update

By now every candidate for state assembly and state senate has received our request - click here to read it.

We have received several responses and it has been worthwhile. A lot of candidate are ignoring us because they didn't get the letter (things get lost in a busy campaign) or they don't think we are worth answering (the more likely answer). It is truly ironic and sad that people who want to represent us don't want to deal with our problems while they are running for office. What kind of response will we get when they are elected?

Please let me know if any of the links don't work.

One way to really help with ferret legalization and let candidates know they either didn't answer our letter - and why not? or thank them for answering.

Special thanks go to Senator David Cox. He'll be hearing from us after the election!

Ferrets in Yuma Animal Control Need Homes

This email came in asking for help:

please let everyone know they are there in hopes that they will not have to stay at the shelter too long...The phone number there is 928-782-1621...They are very nice there and they seemed to really like the ferrets....I hated to do this, but i have to go back to work in California and i have no one to care for them and i cannot take them with me....This was my only option...They are both very healthy and very happy kids....Thy need to be with someone who can care for them and get them the proper medical attention if/when needed....

Ferret Leaves and Returns to California

I'm back from Utah I just wanted to let you know that the bypass coming out of Las Vegas ( I 15 to the I 40 ) worked out great! It was only 30 minutes longer. My little fuzzie, Ginger, was a big hit at my mom's 85 th birthday and family reunion.
Thanks again,
R

In Conclusion

We're going to be busy in the upcoming months. The Legalize Ferrets Revival is not just a meeting, it sets the tone for our efforts in the next year. Will we have a good plan to get our EIR finished while Schwarzenegger is still Governor? I really hope so!

Dr Graening's talk is going to be professionally videotaped and used to recruit ferret owners and donors to increase membership and funding. We may have to start a major funding drive in a few weeks to pay for the EIR.

I'm going to try to put together a photoshoot for our new line of merchandise with the theme "Ferrets Are More Fun." So far it appears we could do "Ferrets Sleep A Lot" or "Ferrets Are More Blurry." If anyone has a studio we could use in the San Diego area, please let me know.

The www.legalizeferrets.org website is going to be rewritten. I'm not looking to change the look of it, I want the content to be fresher and more up to date.

I did redo this page - http://www.ferretsanon.com/Merchandiseholder.html. Please take a look.
